If you are a non-Luxembourg national, you can still take part in the municipal elections. You need to:
- be at least 18 years old on election day (the 8th of October 2017);
- have been living in Luxembourg for at least 5 years when you register;
- sign on to the electoral register no later than the 13th of July 2017;
- enjoy civil rights and not have lost your right to vote in your country of residence or origin. This last condition does not however apply to non-Luxembourg citizens who have lost the right to vote in their country of residence because they no longer live there.
In principle, you will not lose the right to vote in your country of origin. You can verify this at the Embassy or Consulate of your country of origin.
Voting is mandatory for all Luxembourg nationals. They are not required to sign on to the electoral register.
